To get the best out of Moalboal you have to adjust to tropics-time and get up early; fantastic experiences you’ll remember forever, but a NORMAL day starts at 5am, an early one at 3am. Then an early supper while you watch the astonishing sunset from the hotel restaurant (the best in the town) at 5:30, and in bed for 9 or 10.

MoalBoal is a good mix of beach, swimming/diving, bars and laid back Philippino culture. You can eat Philippino, Greek, US, UK, and a variety of food. This is not a 5-star location for facilities, but it is outstanding value and welcoming for divers, and swimmers and has a relaxed vibe. There is a good mix of foreigners/visitors and Cebu locals... good for people-watching. I genuinely like this resort because I am not put off by the amenities. If you are looking for a 5-star experience... stay in a 5-star resort, not here. If you are looking for adventure from canyoneering (nearby) to diving or just swimming among shoals of fish and seeing turtles... then MoalBoal is for you.

There's a bit of everything here for most people, depending on what you're looking for. The foreigner area is a bit away (3 km) from the main highway. There are lots of restaurants and bars, dive shops and hostels there.
There are plenty of daytime activities, but you may need to sign up for a group van the day before. I did and recommend the big canyoneering trip where you jump off short cliffs into pools of clean water (15 m is the highest, most are like 3-8 meters). You'll need water shoes and a heavy duty waterproof bag for your phone (no ziploc bags, they won't work). You will be swimming in one of the cleanest rivers with lots of water falls (ends up at Kawasan Falls) and there's volcanic rock formations and great views.
I didn't do the whale shark viewing or the island jumping, but there are plenty of choices that are family friendly. At night time there's one or two smaller discos that are open late.
I wouldn't highly recommend this area for solo travelers, it's more for couples and families and groups of friends.
You should definitely rent a motorscooter if you want to see all the surrounding attractions on your own schedule, otherwise you'll be paying for a lot of trike rides or waiting on group vans.
Gas is pretty cheap, and I only spent a couple hundred pesos on gas over three days to see pretty much everything (even Osemena Peak). Scooter rental is 350-500 pesos per day.

I love Moalboal!
I love Moalboal! Amazing place for snorkelling, great outdoors activities - the canyoneering was one of my highlights of the Phillipines! Everyone should go to Moalboal while in the Phillipines if they can!

Nice place, nice beaches, snorkeling is good.
Nice place, nice beaches, snorkeling is good. The panagsama beach is a bit too crowded. At night at the weekend very crowded, crazy motorbikers driving fast through the streets, be careful. People are nice and helpful.

Really good spot, worth visiting.
Really good spot, worth visiting. Ideal for 2-3 nights stay and to travel around the town and neighbourhood. Recommend renting a scooter to drive around and see the area. Great white beach, multiple tours and attractions as snorkeling, diving, island hopping etc. Also a lot of different restaurants with traditional Filipino foods as well as mix of Asian and European.
Perfect location in Moalboal. 5 minute walk down to the beach to see the sardines! Less than a 10 minute walk to the Main Street where there was plenty of shops and restaurants. All of the staff were amazing and so helpful! Breakfast offered at an extra small cost (was delicious, definitely recommend!!) Staff arranged the canyoneering trip for us which ran smoothly from pick up to drop off and also arranged tricycle for us to the bus stop on check out. Beautiful view from the communal balcony! Highly recommend staying here :-)
The dorm room was more spacious than most hostels. You'll see the staff clean everyday. The room smells great almost like a hotel. Bed was very comfortable and the curtains gave the right amount of privacy you'll need. The location was actually very serene considering that everything from bars, restaurants to the beach are just a few mins away. Its my first time travelling solo and the staff always checked if I was good, for an introvert, I really appreciate it. 10/10 will recommend and I will definitely come back.
There was beach access, although the reef is about a 5-10 minute swim away. The breakfast was decent and they can prepare eggs any way you want. Staff were friendly and helpful. The parking was right outside the room. There is a security guard at night. They let me check in late (the night security guard was tasked with waiting up for me and unlocking the room for me). The room was clean. You can walk to Panagsama Beach from the hotel, but it is further away from that particular beach than most other hotels.
The location is really good, only about 5 minutes walking from the sardine beach and all the restaurants and shops nearby. The staff were really kind and helpful, we asked a lot of questions not only about things nearby but also how to get to other islands. The room was very spacious and had a huge bathroom and shower, the bed was very comfortable! There’s free water, coffee and tea for guests! The overall atmosphere of this hotel was very relaxing and we felt right at home!
Very friendly and chilled / calm atmosphere.
The staff is more than helpful, accomodating, nice and we definitely enjoyed our stay there.
Perfect hotel for divers,we only snorkeled.
But still we felt very welcomed and had a really
Good time at the wild orchid!
Also the partner Hotel“Blue orchid“ is very nice and has a slight better location (closer to white beach).
We can highly recommend the place !
Our room was spacious, well-equipped and totally clean, we enjoyed our whole stay here. The AC and the wifi worked very well.
The location is also great, it's just 2-3 minutes walk from Moalboal main street and the beach.
The staff was very kind and helpful :) they helped a lot with their recommandations and information. Besides many tours can be booked in the hotel.
Calm, serene, peaceful. Attractive well maintained grounds, largest pool in Moalboal, access to rough coral beach, no sand. Superior construction and craftsmanship. Very clean rooms, beds and pillows firm but comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Small kitchen with limited menu, food is good (make requests in advance).
Staff were super helpful, especially Darren, friendly and booked tours, transfers and more. The hotel feels like paradise with greenery all around, a lovely pool and a great room. Mopeds available to hire which makes travel to nearby beaches (panagsama amazing snorkelling, and white beach lovely Sandy beach) super easy.
Located next to white beach, the resort is a perfect getaway for couples and families. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Food is great, high quality and for breakfast there's plenty of choice. Gym was not open, yet didn't make our stay less pleasant.
The property is right next to the beach and only a 10 minute walk to Moalboal beach where the sardine run is. Booking tours through the hotel was great, the lady was very informative. The hotel provides a shuttle from Cebu airport for a fair price.
Sardine run walkable, right by all the main restaurants in the Panagsama road area. Short ride to white beach. Staff always polite and happy to answer questions. Aircon works well, curtains great for the beds (on the bottom bunks only).
Good location- only a short walk to the town and bars but just enough out of the town for it to be nice and quiet, good value for money- one of the cheapest hotels you’ll find in Moalboal, good sized bed, proper towels, friendly staff
We had a private room with 2 large beds. Beds were great, staff were wonderful, there was a nice outside area with bar and kitchen to meet other travelers. 10 minute walk to Panagsama beach, short tricycle ride to White Beach.
Great little hotel that is a stones throw from the beach, bars and restaurants. Will it is close it still maintains its peaceful ambience. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Great pool area. The restaurant was great.
The foods are great! Though, the resort is far from
the white beach but I think Bonita Oasis is the best resort to stay in Moalboal 😊 Perfect for the family!
Good location in Moalboal, close to nice bars on the beach, quiet area, staff were great at organising trips for us (canyoning and swimming with whale sharks)
